Do You Need a Big Yard for a Big Dog? |

Big dog; tiny yard?
First, there's no law of dog training that says your yard needs to be bigger if your dog is big. Large dogs do need more room to play around, but just about any yard will do the trick as long as you have some open space. Will big dogs fit in your high-rise apartment? Most likely, they won't be a great fit. But if you have a small yard, you can still bring your dog out and expect to enjoy that yard completely.
Dogs are similar to humans in many regards, and this subject is one of them. You don't necessarily need a large yard to enjoy the outdoor life. Why not? Because you can simply head outdoors and go on a walk whenever you feel like it, or head to the park. So why wouldn't that same idea apply to your large dog? All you have to do is take your dog out on a regular basis and they won't feel antsy. If you've noticed, you probably feel the same sometimes. So take your larger dog out and get some fresh air.
Likewise, if you have a large yard, there's no reason you can't utilize it to its fullest; it can be like having your own miniature park just behind your house. If you have plenty of land to explore, let your dog explore it; ultimately, it will be easier on the both of you.
If you're considering getting a big dog for a pet, there are some concerns that you'll want to address, such as how a larger dog might interact with small children. These are the questions to focus on - don't worry about whether or not your yard is big enough to accommodate your new pet.
As long as you remember to promote healthy habits of activity and exercise in both yourself and your dog, you should have no problems.
